Description
This is an action brought by the widow of a traveling salesman to review the order of the Department of Industry, Labor &
Human Relations (ILHR Department) which denied the widow's claim for benefits as the result of the death of her husband, William,
in an automobile accident on March 16, 1965. William C. Dibble and his family lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He had been employed for about a year by Philco Distributors,
Inc., as a traveling salesman. His sales territory consisted of a portion of the states of Minnesota, Iowa and Wisconsin,
including the area around La Crosse, Wisconsin. The size of the area was such that Dibble would normally be on the road from
Monday through Friday. As a salesman his job was to contact retail dealers in this area to sell Philco products and to encourage
the dealers to visit Philco's showroom in Minneapolis. He had considerable discretion in the scheduling of visits to the dealers
and in determining the hours he would work.
